Hello everyone.
First off, I want to apologize to all of the seasoned/experienced forum users, for I, unfortunately, am not among you. I am a total forum noob so I apologize in advance if I end up, or already am, breaking any rules or crossing any lines. I am very interested in Astral Masters, but I would like some more information directly from those that play the game.
My first question regards deck customization. Does it exist in Astral Masters? If so, how extensive is the customization? Is it down to every single card, or only a little bit of altering to preset decks? The reason I ask is because I know there are a lot of TCG/CCG out there that involve minimal or no customization of preset decks.
My second question involves the first one. In the case that you can detail your own deck down to every single card, what real world expenses are there? I know MTGO costs so much [insert currency here] per pack or single, etc.. For that matter, other than the price for the full version of the game, are there any other fees? Such as subscription fees?
As for the third question, what is the single player mode(s) like? Are they basically just a tutorial or are they at least a decent substitute for matches against human opponents? The reason I ask is because I am (temporarily) not always able to access the internet so I would like to know that I would be buying a game that I would not have to play only during specific occasions. On that same note, please tell me you do not need to be connected to the internet to play the single player mode(s)? Obviously, in my personal opinion, that defeats the purpose of the single player mode, but I have seen in done in the past.
Lastly, and I apologize for a semi-lengthy post, but what is the status of the Astral Masters community? Are there still a lot of players around? I realize this is a bit of a redundant question, seeing as your forums are still quite active, but that has fooled me in the past. Again, I am a forum noob.
Any information regarding this game and my questions would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to thank, in advance, any and all who took the time to read this. Especially those who gave their time to answer my questions.
Take care,
Xalchiem
You are free to build any deck you want :)
There is a flat fee for full version. There is also an optional subscription fee for premium status which gives access for the most recently added cards (online only).
But I suggest you to try playing so you'll easily fing all the answers :)

I greatly appreciate your time and information. This does definitely sound like a game worth trying, which I will likely be doing shortly. Again, thank you for taking your time to read this and answer my questions. You have been very helpful.
Another quick question: Is there a "negative" reason why most players do not play online?
I don't know. Maybe people prefer single player mode because they can win more than loose.
Well, there might be 2 reasons why less people play online:
1) Quite a bit of the community might have moved to Spectromancer (more recent game from the same company, similar but plays very differently)2) With the premium cards online, people who did not upgrade to premium might feel that they do not stand a chance online
That being said, the AI puts up one hell of a fight, even more so in the last league! The single player should provide enough challenge since you can try out completely different decks + you have several leagues to fight through. The more you grow, the more you get access to better cards so the more variety you can put in your deck.
could be that, or it could be the fact that despite being able to build any deck you want , there are only 5-6 that actually work so playing online is more like rock paper scissors
...Some statistics: most players who bought the game do not play online :)
Im sorry this is not true at all, anyone who bought the game would play online. Playing 1 player mode can only take you so far. I've beaten the 1 player game 3 times and it still holds little challenge compared to the online play....
This is a retarded statement, 100% untrue
Oh one more thing....
Spectromancer is an ok game, but it is nothing compared to Astral masters. I played Specto for a while and it got boring very fast. The only thing it has to offer thats better then AM is the silly special effects when you use spells, but this could easily be applied to AM which would make Spectromancer completely obsolete....

Seeing who Cooler is, that statement is in fact reality :)Regarding Spectromancer, it plays quite differently compared to Astral Masters (you can only play 1 card per turn ; your available MP is carried over between turns ; you don't choose the cards in your deck ...), the game dynamics are truly different.
So what? It's true that online mode provides more challenge, but this doesn't make my statement false.
What is really false is that "anyone who bought the game would play online." :)
